Great Lakes Graphics operated as a 4/Color commercial offset sheet fed print manufacturer in Buffalo, New York. GLG specialized in “half size” production with 19" x 26" being the core sheet. Great Lakes Web was a divisional expansion of GLG specializing in 2/3/4 color business forms and roll to sheet inserts.
Family owned with a staff of 25, Craig was tasked with the implementation of computerized pricing & job costing estimation. He very quickly became educated in commercial offset print costing and workflow.
Populating the estimating database with individual cost elements and learning workflow to calculate labor rates was invaluable. It was this questioning of pre-press operations, press room operators, bindery techs, and delivery personnel that prepared him to price for profit.
